 A towering fortress-city built around a single massive root that rises vertically from the earth like a black spire. The city clings to the outside of the root in concentric rings of stone and iron. Magic is openly practiced here, but every working is taxed by the ruling order of Rootbound Magisters. The interior of the spire is forbidden to all but the highest ranks; those who enter without permission are said to emerge speaking languages that no longer exist. |
